TIESTO! Can you present us your new album « Kaleidoscope »?
- Why can we say that this album is an “artist album” in the true sense with a stunning collection of songs written and recorded in collaboration with a variety of artists?
I took more of a structured song writing approach with Kaleidoscope, as I wanted to make an album that brought together all of the different musical influences which I am enjoying at the moment. It still has the essence of what makes up the Tiësto signature sound, but it takes it in a whole new direction.
- How have you chosen these guests (Nelly Furtado, Calvin Harris...)?
I chose artists whose music really inspires me. It gave me the opportunity to experiment with new sounds and textures.
- Can we say that “Kaleidoscope” is a very colorful album?
Certainly! Kaleidoscope was a by-product of the various styles of music I’ve been listening to lately like indie rock and electro fused together with trance, techno and house.
- Everybody says that you’re the world’s greatest DJ... what is more difficult: becoming the best or staying the best?.jpg)
I work hard and I am thankful that people appreciate what I do.
- What about the successes of French Djs like David Guetta or Bob Sinclar in the world?
They are both great DJs and producers and deserve the success. It's great to see electronic music progressing as much as it has. France has always had a musical style and I'm sure that great artists will continue to come from there.
- Why don’t we see you playing much in France?
I love France and would love to perform here more often. It’s tough as my schedule is hectic but look for a date later in 2010.
- How do you feel when you know that you’re the artist from Nederland the “most popular” in the world (with Denis Bergkamp!)?
I’m proud to represent my homeland of the Netherlands, and to be mentioned alongside Denis Bergkamp is a true honor!
- Is it not too difficult to be always on the road?
My schedule keeps me moving around the world constantly, so it’s definitely difficult to have a personal life. I do have very good friends who I keep up with and my family is very important to me. Each day consists of working on music, and preparing for the nights performance. I also try to stay fit whenever I’m on the road, so a bit of exercise each day is important as well.
- Well... which is the most « crazy » track that you have played during a party (Rap, classical music...)?
The craziest track I’ve played live recently would have to be my song with Three 6 Mafia called “Feel It”. Whenever I play it, the club jumps off!
